SOPA DEAD : Revolutionary Week killed SOPA

Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA)
is dead now after a revolutionary week. Facebook has also responded to the death of SOPA. Facebook has express relief, that the bill has pulled back and thanking their millions of users for the feedback. Giant internet firms Wikipedia, Reddit, BoingBoing shows blackout on Wednesday. Well Facebook has not gone dark during protest but they are opposing the bill.

Lamar Smith, Chief sponsor of SOPA said “that he is pulling the bill back until there is wider agreement on a solution”.

“I have read from the critics and I take seriously their concerns regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online piracy. “

Facebook posted the following message on their page -

“We are relieved that Congress has recognized the serious damage the PIPA and SOPA could cause to the internet and are pleased that congressional leaders have decided not to move forward on these bills. We want to thank out users who shared their views. We appreciate the law makers have listened to our community’s concerns and we stand ready to work with them on solutions to piracy and copyright infringement.”

Revolutionary steps to Stop SOPA that has been taken this week -

Monday January 16 - White house takes stand

Tuesday January 17 - Wikipedia announces blackout for 24 hours, Google censors the logo

Wednesday January 18 - Websites including Wikipedia, Reddit, BoingBoing gone dark for 24 hours.

Thursday January 19 - SOPA and PIPA starts working on issues.

Friday January 20 - Congress took steps on SOPA and PIPA after the huge criticism on Wednesday.  Some anonymous attacks the network of Universal Music after the US department shut down’s the Mega Upload server.

Saturday January 21 -  SOPA DEAD
